FAQ

The best time to visit Nepal for a tour is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November)seasons. The weather is mild, and the skies are clear, providing the best views of the mountains and lush landscapes. Avoid the monsoon season (June to August) due to heavy rainfall.

Yes, most foreign visitors require a visa to enter Nepal. Tourist visas can be obtained on arrival at the airport or through the Nepali embassy in your country. Visas are typically valid for 15, 30, or 90 days.

Yes, all of our tours come with a local, English-speaking guide. They are knowledgeable about the area and culture, and their expertise will help you gain a deeper understanding of Nepal. Our guides are also friendly and ensure your comfort and safety throughout your trip.

Porters can carry your heavy bags if needed, allowing you to enjoy the tour and bring your belongings if needed.

Beyond safety and convenience, hiring local guides and porters also helps support the local economy. Tourism is a major source of income for many Nepali families, especially in remote areas. By choosing to travel with a guide and porter, you are directly contributing to their livelihood, ensuring they have a fair wage and sustainable employment. Many guides and porters have years of experience and valuable knowledge of the areas you are traveling, making your tour both more interesting and fun.

Yes, Nepal is generally considered safe for travelers. Like any destination, it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings, especially in busy areas. We recommend traveling with a reputable tour company, like Sherpa Trekking, for a smoother and safer experience.

On most tours, you’ll stay in comfortable or deluxe hotels in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara. In remote areas like Mustang, you will have the option to stay in local lodges or guesthouses. Rooms are typically basic but clean. More luxury hotels are also possible but prices in the rural areas can quickly go up.
In Chitwan you can choose to stay in a basic hotel or experience more comfort in a jungle resort with pool.

Mostly you can say that the more remote the area is the more basic the facilities will be.

Our tours vary in difficulty. Cultural tours and monastery visits, such as to Namo Buddha, are easy and suitable for all ages. More challenging tours, like those to Mustang or Chitwan, may involve some (light) trekking but are still accessible for most people with basic fitness.

In the end it all depends on your wishes. We can customize every tour to your level of fitness and requirements.

We recommend packing comfortable walking shoes, light clothing for warmer days, and warmer layers for cooler evenings.

For tours in remote areas, bring a water bottle and purifying tablets

Make sure to check with your guide what to bring according to the area and weather.

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is essential. It should cover:

  • Medical expenses and trip cancellations.
  • And when visiting higher areas: Emergency evacuation (helicopter rescue).

Without the necessary insurance we can’t offer you our services.
